Ah! Charlie Chan – how could I resist this Random 12 choice – I am number one fan! This issue is outstanding in every respect – from the stunning redhead on the cover to Jack Kirby’s amazing pencils – first class entertainment – though of course the racist imagery grates just a little bit in the modern world. I could definitely go for Vana, the ultimate femme fatale in Number One Trouble but all the stories are equally intriguing and well-constructed. Do take the time to read it, as Charlie Chan might have said, ‘Missing out on joyous exposition like living life without doughnut’
