I had this comic when I was a kid! Delighted to find someone else who knew about Ben Bowie, certainly not as well known as Jim , who had a tv shoe. American history of the frontier an interest of mine. Wonder though about having some stories set at time of French and Indian War. Think of "mountain men " as later. early 19th century, after Lewis and Clark, men like Kit Carson and Jim Bridger. Then again, James Fenimore Cooper set his Lestherstocking Tales around time of that war. His hero Natty Bumpo was a portrait of the frontiersman of that day. Remember the Tv show Hawkeye based on Cooper's books.
