Practically everything good in Finocchiaro's artwork is swiped from Joe Kubert.

Well, swiping is quite common and if you gotta swipe, who better than Joe Kubert. But you should learn from swiping and move on and develop your own style. Eugene Hughes annoys me because if you look at his books, you see excellent covers, but the insides are always cheap and nasty. Whether he was protesting at the rates he was paid, I don't know. Another one not on Lambiek.

After looking through these issues, ACTION ADVENTURE comes across like kind of a low-rent version of TWO-FISTED TALES. "Low rent", obviously because they couldn't possibly put together a collection of he-man adventure tales with the panache and skill of EC. Still, most 1950s war comics just went for the low-hanging fruit (gung-ho anti-commie jingoism), so you have to admire Stanley Morse just for aiming a little higher.
