Synopsis | Pat takes photos in a nightclub and sells Lonny’s perfume to customers. Lonny admits he buys stolen perfume from a fence. Dexter tells Lonny he can counterfeit perfume cheaper than buying from the fence, and Pat reluctantly agrees to go along because she’s in love with Lonny. She convinces old friend Dino, a gangster who owns various clubs, to stock the perfume. Dino decides to take over the counterfeiting ring for himself, but they are all arrested by the FBI. Lonny and Pat are sent to prison for five years but hope to start life fresh with a clean slate when they get out. |

Synopsis | Stella tells her story to arguing couple Kay and Tim. She fell in love with Johnny, a boxer turned songwriter. When his music career falters, Johnny goes back to the ring. Stella isn’t happy (“I thought I was marrying a songwriter not a prizefighter”), dates old friend Charlie, and sends Johnny a breakup letter on the night of his championship fight. Johnny loses badly and is injured. Stella marries Charlie but he is an abusive drunk. Johnny dies of his ring injuries. His song “Why Did I Waste My Time in Loving You” becomes a hit. Stella urges Kay and Tim to reconcile. |

Synopsis | Pam and Larry fall in love, but Peg shows up and says she’s Larry’s wife. Larry explains that he knew Peg during the war and she appeared again afterwards, angling for a marriage proposal. He didn't love her, so he turned her down. Now she wants $5000 for her “broken heart.” When Larry refuses to pay, Peg convinces Pam she actually is Larry’s wife and Pam leaves him. The police arrest Peg and her real husband and they’re convicted of blackmail. Pam and Larry reconcile. |
