SynopsisA girl in the Yurok tribe in Turkey can become engaged only once in her lifetime. This rule holds even if her fiancé dies before the wedding. In the 5th century B.C., a statue erected to Theogenes of Thassos, Greece, for winning 1,300 Olympic awards, was flogged nightly by a jealous rival. One night, while the jealous man was beating the statue, it toppled over and crushed him to death. Because the statue had killed a man, the act had to be punished. Therefore, the marble figure was tried for murder, convicted, and sentenced to be thrown into the sea, thus executing it for murder. Believe It or Not!
