SynopsisThe police learned that a gambler named Mole had been shot in his own townhouse, seated at his typewriter. Someone had killed him by firing through an open window. The butler found the body and called police, who in turn called me. I noticed a typewritten page next to the typewriter that read, "if I am murdered, the killer will be..." And there it stopped. "Has anything been touched since you discovered the dead man", I asked the butler. He said no. Then I told the police to arrest him. I'll tell you why. In the case of the dead witness, if the gambler had been shot while typing his note, the note would still be in the typewriter, not alongside as I found it. The butler had simply been a little too neat. He confessed.
