Eloise falls in love with Bill, a young Marine about to be sent back to the Korean War. He asks her to wait for him, but she says “I don’t want to have to grow up so fast!” However, she eventually realizes that the war affects everyone and “I guess we all have to grow up, whether we want to or not.” She tracks down Bill before he leaves and promises to wait for him.
