SynopsisAlthough she already has a boyfriend, fellow college student Jimmy, Mary dates Roger after he wrong-number dials her home telephone. Roger is a “rising young engineer,” who takes Mary to a nightclub and makes drunken advances to her. His scheme is foiled by the arrival of Jimmy and Roger’s indignant wife Lucy. Mary feels she has been a “stupid, cheap little fool” and has now lost Jimmy’s love as well, because she was “a reckless pickup!”

Della and doctor Bert fall in love, but he says he’s going to marry wealthy Helen, whose money can help his career. Della realizes this is how she treated George and tracks him down: he’s the one who secretly paid for her medical treatment. Della says she’ll marry him even though he isn’t rich.

Carol and Fred eventually get married and form a new family of their own.
