Synopsis | Claire’s sister Helen is diagnosed with kleptomania but Claire won’t face the “disgrace” of having her in a sanitarium for treatment. Claire dates Greg, an engineer in a watch company. Claire is helpless to prevent Greg from bringing Bob along for a double date with Helen. Helen steals a watch but isn’t caught. Claire forbids her to see Bob again. Greg learns about Claire's refusal to seek help for Helen's condition and breaks up with Claire: “You’ve destroyed whatever feelings I’ve had for you!” Claire sacrifices to provide for Helen’s treatment and is eventually reunited with Greg. |

Word gets back to Tom and they reconcile. |

Gloria pawns her diamonds and gives her father the money to save his business. Mack returns and is reunited with Gloria. |

Steve says “you refuse to make any personal adjustment to people or to life itself!” and breaks up with her. Ruthie decides to change her life and accepts a job as an occupational therapist. Steve comes back to her. |
