In college, Phyllis is attracted to “sensitive” Floyd but he accuses her of being “a husband-hunter” and they break up. Back home, Phyllis and Wes are reunited, but she falls in love with Neil, who is engaged to Greta. Wes and Greta get together, and Neil says he planned it that way: he realized Greta wasn’t his type, so he set her up with Wes. Neil and Phyllis can now marry. |

Synopsis | In 1954, Alice and her mother visit Sun Valley so Alice can prepare for the ice skating championships. Alice badly injures a leg. She falls in love with Dr. Hal but says she can’t marry him until 1956, after the Olympics, because marriage “would disrupt my training schedule completely!” Hal says “I’ve never heard anything so insane in my life!” They break up. In 1956, Alice competes in the Olympics against “that communist skater from Russia,” but is still depressed about Hal. Alice’s mother sends Hal a cable; he arrives to encourage Alice. Alice wins the gold medal and will now marry Hal. |
