The villain, James Taynton, is obviously based on Edgar Wallace right down to the cigarette holder. A nice touch Wallace himself would have appreciated.

Magnificent gothic tour de force - worthy of the master Edgar Wallace himself. In fact, the Taynton character is a wonderful caricature of the self-parody that Wallace created for himself. Every frame in this one is worth drooling over - Passingham at his very best. Don't miss it!
