Not a dream! Not a Hoax! Not even an Imaginary Story! Uncle Robin is - reviewing a ROMANCE comic? WHAT'S UP WITH THAT? Well, ya know - it's the LITTLE things that sucked me into this one. For one thing, the lettering - that's right, QUIT SNICKERING - the lettering of the story titles was really good, I daresay even ahead of its time! My dear sweet Roxanne Starr might've been influenced by THIS one. Or not. But it was good. Very, very good! Then there were the ads - that sideways one right off the bat was interesting - I think John Byrne stole that idea in one of his Fantastic Fours. And that lead story - when the teacher got crushed on by a student named Sven Bjorgessen, I expected him to be a Swedish exchange student. Nope, he was JUST SOME SCHMUCK FROM A FARM! Will wonders never cease? Yep. GREAT entertainment value, and on the strength of JUST THIS ONE STORY (plus that jazzy lettering) I give this one a solid EIGHT STARS! Besides, I just got the living you-know-what disappointed out of me over at Tim Holt, where my heartthrob The Black Phantom was nowhere to be seen. I needed a chick fix, dammit, and I GOT IT HERE! EIGHT. STARS. Bye. |
