Lyons does it again! What a lovely collection of booklets. They were the brainchild of an enterprising publisher, Hasegawa Takejiro. Originally intended to help Japanese readers learn English, they found a huge market in the West. Read about them at the Monash University website: https://repository.monash.edu/collections/show/108 Interesting how the majority of the stories are about old people. I learned from them never to be a bad neighbor. The drawings of humanoid animals are charming. I especially like the mice.

These are really wonderful drawings and stories, thank you very much for this cultural treasure. :-) It looks like the books are printed on very good quality thick paper.
