Lyons does it again! What a lovely collection of booklets. They were the brainchild of an enterprising publisher, Hasegawa Takejiro. Originally intended to help Japanese readers learn English, they found a huge market in the West. Read about them at the Monash University website:

Interesting how the majority of the stories are about old people. I learned from them never to be a bad neighbor. The drawings of humanoid animals are charming. I especially like the mice.
