Just what was the story with Green Publishing? And why is there an MLJ Black Hood story in the middle of the book?
   By dwilt
All of the stories are from "Top Notch Laugh Comics" #41. Green reprinted a lot of MLJ and Fox stories--it's also possible that they just put a new cover on remaindered copies of Top Notch Laugh Comics 41 (all of the stories are in the same order as the original) except that one story is missing.

Roly Poly added in the Black Hood story into the middle of their book. So, it's not likely that these were already bound insides. It's a lot more likely that Green got ahold of the MLJ plates or original art in a warehouse sale, or a special deal with MLJ, who had already changed Top-Notch Laugh to Laugh Comics, and their book's features had mostly changed to other (new) features with new lead characters.

Many years ago I bought Roly Poly #10 because it contained Steel Sterling and Red Rube. The "funnies" didn't appeal to me but derring-do did. It was cheaper than a "real" MLJ comic. We have #10 on site. Nice Irv Novick art.
