This was completely under my radar, so I'm glad to be introduced to it! Reminds me a bit of "The Lost World" series from Planet Comics (future Earth conquered by sinister forces, our hero and a few others try to defeat them and rebuild civilisation).
It does seem slightly odd that great inventor Doc Strong couldn't invent a shirt for himself, though :)

The question I have, is why is it that MLJ never revived this character?
I suspect Alan Moore was aware of him when he created Tom Strong.

Re Alan Moore, I was referring to the aspect of Tom Strong's origin that he was raised by scientist parents in an isolated island society.
[Tom Strong was raised using revolutionary scientific and dieting methods, leading him to become a human being in absolute peak physical condition. He spent his childhood on an island called "Attabar Teru," ]
There is also something of a 'Flash Gordon' influence here too. Great to find something like this that I was largely unaware of.

I read this soon after the Rex Dexter compilation, which I felt had better story elements. In Doc Strong, the opposition for half the series is largely a primitive tribe with no ingenuity or tactics more developed than raiding and killing. Even after they capture a rogue scientist, all they do is threaten the scientist to produce high tech for them, yet they still continue in their barbaric ways. Doc Strong and his companions with their advanced science should have wiped them out after the first battle. Past that, the love interest was a token addition, the art was excellent and I did like the series of episodes based on an island, as opposed to the superficial planets I found in Dexter. Too bad the antagonists were so brutish.
