A booklet by a gun manufacturer trying to convince children that owning guns and shooting things is fun. What if your school doesn't have a shooting program? No problem. There are suggestions for getting your school on board. What if your folks don't want you to have a gun? No problem. Send away for the booklet 'What Every Parent Should Know When a Boy or Girl Wants a Gun.' It's all darn-tootin' good fun. What could go wrong?

Yeah, I can see how this giveaway from Winchester will shock some of our members! Today, it would be a major lawsuit waiting to happen! However, at the time of its publication, recreational shooting was not only acceptable in the U.S., it was actively encouraged. Yes, I was properly trained in the use of firearms- most of us were. I'm not defending it, just stating a fact. It was a far different culture then. Cheers, Bowers

I'm going to risk my membership and say this is great. The anti gun hysteria from the past few years and the blatant doctoring of stories in the media have made me respect gun owners.

Nice comic, but I wish it hadn’t been scanned two-up! It makes each page too small and low-res. Is there a high-res version of this somewhere online?
