Amazing stuff. Since you never really see anything this in 'realistic' in Historical movies or TV series, you would be incline to believe that these are all fictional, made up.
I can tell you that in the 90's on bus strip's through Ghana, i saw hawkers doing much the same thing on the sides of the roads.
Whenever the bus or car stops, they would run over and try to buy something through the winder.

Lyons, this is a gem! We're used to buying our food, clothing, and necessaries often under the same roof or online. We've forgotten how very specialized the vendors of those days were and how important a merchant's reputation was in making a living. Really great stuff! Cheers, Bowers
