SCORCHY SMITH 10 is an Australian reprint of the aviator-adventurer’s exploits from an American newspaper strip (cut and pasted to fit the comic book page). Scorchy had a long run (1930-1961) with 10 different artists contributing for various lengths of time. This story is from a later period, with Rodlow Willard behind the pencil, and it is not as highly regarded as the early stories, but it’s an example of a popular type of adventure story. Other Scorchy stories were reprinted in Famous Funnies (/?cid=1140), if you have a hankering for more. And, no, I don’t know Scorchy’s plan at the end of story. Just to follow up: Scorchy Smith was reprinted in Famous Funnies #25-203 (most but not every issue).
Possibly more significantly, Scorchy Smith and the Art of Noel Sickles is a volume of the American Library of Comics published by IDW. It includes over 3 years worth of daily strips from the heyday of feature.
