NotesTREASURE PLANET is written and drawn by Noel Cook, and published by KG Murray Publishing in 1947. It’s the story of an expedition that vanished, told in a cinematic style – both in the storyline and Cook’s illustrations. The cover shows this is a ‘Blue Star’ comic, a way of identifying comics from the same publisher.

Very nice art and a truly nutso story. Lambiek says Cook had a lengthy career in Australia, then moved to England where he eventually became art director for Fleetway's children's magazines.

I hadn't got around to writing up any notes on Noel Cook, so thanks crashryan, Cook was born in New Zealand, where he'd worked as a cartoonist, before moving to Australia, not an uncommon career path for kiwi creatives. Like many Aussie cartoonists, he'd served in WWII, but Cook had also fought in the First World War. There another Noel Cook book already on this site, for anyone wanting more - It's 'Adrift in Space'.

It is great to see classic comics from Australia's golden age represented here.
