NotesTHE INVISIBLE AVENGER #2 by Eddie Brooker (words) and Virgil Reilly (art), published by Illustrated Publications in March 1950. It’s a science fiction adventure with the villain as the title character, looks at germ warfare from a 1950s perspective, and has an interesting development late in this issue.

Very little is known about the writer, Eddie Brooker, and that is from artist Peter Chapman in interviews. Brooker was a French-born writer who moved to Australia and wrote for newspapers as well as comics. He wrote his stories and dialogue in French, having them translated to English. This meant there were a greater number of words and this 'killed the stories'. This, in turn, lead to publishers being unwilling to continue using him. Virgil Reilly took over writing the Invisible Avenger by issue 6, after which Peter Chapman came on board as both writer and artist.

Thanks for this Dan. I hope you have the whole story, I'm dying to find out what happens next!

@OzMan - sadly not. Next issue I have access to is#4 (titled "Adventure in Outer Space"). I note the Invisible Avenger story runs for 11 issues, following he story outline of Eddie Brooker, so whatever may be said about verbosity he was highly imaginative!
