NotesDutch landscape comic from 1954 which was a giveaway from Spar, a chain of small stores/convenience stores, founded in The Netherlands in 1932. This 6 issue run featured art by Georges Mazure, brother of Alfred Mazure of Dick Bos fame. The format is interesting with 2 illos per page in the textstrip style. Info by Robb K. Georges Mazure also drew 15 issues of the detective Beeldroman, Spot Morton, in the 1940's, having taken over the art chores from Ben Abas. (Paw Broon)

You are very welcome. I plan also to translate this entire series to English, and have a Scanlation made of it, creating what an English language version of it would have been. We now have all 6 issues here on CB+. You can find them in our "Non-English section", under "Dutch Language Books". Unfortunately, however, you cannot see more than those 6 issues, as they were the only 6 books issued. I will translate all of them, as well as most of the 75+ Dutch language books we have here on CB+, and I will also upload more of them, all of this over the next several years. Currently, I have finished translating half of the 8 issue-series of "De Tweede Pimpernel"("The Second Pimpernel" (a Dutch post World War II detective/industrial spy graphic novelette).

I don't know whether directly related, but we have some SPAR stores here in Canberra, Australia. I've never noticed them in other cities in Australia, but I haven't looked for them, so there may be quite a few out there. Art in this comic is great, taking advantage of the black and white format as a strength. I'd be happy to read translations.

Robb, thanks for the info; I’ll check out the other issues. Translating these is a wonderful idea and I’ll be eager to read them. THANKS!!!
