BEN BARBARY BUSHRANGER COMICS 3 was an anthology-published by HE Hoffman in 1947. It contained the following features: BEN BARBARY BUSHRANGER, KLUCKY KLUTTERBUCK, VESTA THE VESUVIAN, CAPTAIN CARVER OF THE CARIBBEAN, and LITTLE BOSCO, as well as a couple of educational pieces. All are by Doug Maxted. This comic ran 10 issues, with the title changing but always featuring the name ‘Ben Barbary’. Maxted self-published the first two issues, the the following two being published by HE Hoffman, and then the rest of the run by Illustrated Press, a company set-up by Doug Maxted to publish comics. Other than Ben Barbary, Illustrated Press only published one issue of Triggo Sparks of the Circle Z, a western comic. There is more information about this book at the bottom of the page

Vesta the Vesuvian is my highlight in this issue. There are quite a few women-lead comics in the Australian golden age, but still a small minority. I believe Vesta appeared in the first five issues of this comic, and it's a serial rather than standalone stories. I hope to be able to upload more of these.
