| Notes | MISTER COMBAT 3 by Yaroslav Horak, published by Elmsdale Publications in July 1950 (estimated). This is Horak’s first solo ongoing comic, but not the last. It ran for only three issues (so this is the last), with this issue also featuring a back strip, Rex Rooney of the Highway Patrol. His flying motorcycle is quite a nifty inclusion. Elmsdale mostly reprinted American comics (their biggest seller being Felix the Cat, which lead to Australian comics with Choclit and Kokey Koala in a similar tone and style). Mister Combat, a crime-busting globe-trotter, was quite a departure! There is more information about this book at the bottom of the page | |||
