| Notes | Film Picture Stories was initially innovative among British comics for eschewing humour cartoons in favour of dramatic adventure strips (it was still about 50% text stories due to the industry's fanatical desire to make issues look full). Really they were little more than text comics, like many AP action strips of the time, but hey ho. Initially the strips were adaptations of films (hence the name) drawn by a pool of artists that included George "Bill" Wakefield, J. H. Valda, Jos Walker, Harry Lane and Serge Drigin. Roly-poly Fred Cordwell was editor, and the title replaced The Bullseye. This issue is the only one I have; while the text stories are adaptations, according to my extensive research of typing the names into IMDB the strips appear to be original (well...) stories. The comic tanked and was merged with Film Fun, and AP generally left adventure comics alone until after World War II. | |||
