I really don't want to ask, but should anybody really be circulating images of what appears to be the majority of a very-much-under-copyright book, here?

Yeah, don't most copyrights say something about copying "in whole or in part?"

There is Fair Use, of course.  But it seems like we might have passed that point when it stopped being bits for the purpose of conversation and commentary.

Understand that.

For the purpose of conversation, I never knew that Kirby had a hand in the developement of Spiderman...

We talked about this fairly recently, actually, when Spider Queen's origin showed up:

It wasn't exactly a conspicuous thread.

By the way:  Night Fighter?  Man of Flame?  Those are some pretty horrible names.  First, imagine the atrocities we'd be living with, had Mainline led the charge into the Silver Age.  Second, I'd be willing to bet that "Spider-Man" didn't come from the same brainstorming session as the rest.

Given that the other two names sound like knockoffs of Batman and the Human Torch (who, in 1953, was back on the stands), perhaps the earlier version of the character, the Silver Spider, is more likely.  After all, that sounds like a knockoff of the Blue Beetle, so they all match in that respect.
