I'm certainly not impugning the quality of Powell's artwork. It's just that you know that Myron Fass had to have been on the bottom rung of the pay scale for comic book publishers at the time. You'd think that Powell could have found work say, for example, at DC, doing war stories for editor Bob Kanigher, or mystery stories for editor Jack Schiff, or something that probably paid a little better. Things must have gotten a lot tougher just a couple of years later, after the bubble burst post-Batmania, taking out a lot of the lower-end publishers (even good ones, like Harry Shorten's Tower Comics) in its wake.

Powell had a studio of artists, from what I have read. He probably just handed the art chore off to be done in his style. The other thing with pay scale, is speed. They could often make as much turning out a lot of quick crap that a few good pages.
