"Penny" (which ended in 1970) is one of the comic strips I remember reading in our daily & Sunday paper in the Sixties. It was pleasant without being especially hilarious. In addition to the famous ones (Blondie, Peanuts, The Phantom), we also got Steve Canyon, Smilin' Jack, and others which have gone to the comics graveyard in the sky. Sadly, some of the big names--like Flash Gordon--were carried by one of the rival newspapers so I never got to see it as a kid.
