Turok, son of stone
« on: September 30, 2010, 04:08:16 AM »

DarkHorse comics are releasing a new version the old `60's Dell/Gold Key comic 'Turok, son of stone' with issue #1 going on sale October 13th. The original lost prehistoric valley story concept from Dell will be used (Varient's `90's re-do used an apocalyptic theme). As a fan of the original series, I'm willing to give the first issue a look.

I haven't really thought about collecting a comic (other than reprints or downloadable older stuff) for nearly a decade...
Oddly enough Turok Son of Stone was the first comic I collected before I knew what collecting was.
It had dinosaurs... and dinosaurs were of course the bomb!

If this series promises to emulate it... I am IN!

I'll check it out for an issue or two, but I'm not holding high expectations or anything.  If it retains the flavor and quality of the Gold Key comics I grew up with, I might read it on a regular basis. I was a loyal reader of the original series, and I can't help myself...I have to check it out.  Just hope it's close to the originals in storyline.

Amen, Brother! Nothing is worse than a company "improving" a classic comic series. As an avid "Turok" fan, I will also check out the first few issues- thanks for letting us know about  it. Cheers, Bowers

Did not know the movie existed untill your post narfstar, just tracked it down online.  Pretty wicked and worth watching, but I still like the Gold Key comics better.  :)
