If you have not noticed any posts from
me. Our area was hit hard by f2 and f4. Around our neighborhood looks
like a war zone. Last wave out or Rossville hit us. We heard the noise
and ran to bathroom, it hit within seconds. We heard a thump. Passed
in seconds. Went outside it was still dark. When it lightened up trees
were down everywhere on our street and we were the lucky ones.
Devastation blocks away. We lost two large oak and two metal sheds but
not much of their content. We have been without power and I have had
no internet access. Two elementary schools were wiped out. We have
been out this week and next maybe rest of year. Pray for the family
that lost homes and most of all loved ones in Cleveland, TN. You will
not be hearing much from me until power is restored maybe two weeks as
power lines are down in whole communities. I managed to get a
generator today by being in Home Depot when the shipment arrived they
do not last long. They also had a refurburished chainsaw on the
computer. Turned out to be new without blade but they put a blade on
it and gave me a ten percent discount. Generators and chainsaws are
hard to come by. You may not be hearing from me much until power is
restored as the generators are for refrigerator and freezer mainly.

Thank God you and your family are all safe Narf. So many families were not as lucky, with 300 dead and still counting. They are saying that the weather we are having here in the Pacific North West is the cause of all these tornados we are seeing and that they will continue for a while yet. I've been praying for my sister that lives near Memphis Tenn. that she doesn't have one come through there.

38 dead and counting here in Tennessee. many killed in neighboring counties but the storms passed us by with only a bit of large hail stones and lots of lightning.

Saw the devastation on the news, but I can't possibly conceive what you guys and your neighbors are going through. Our prayers go out for your safety and recovery. With sympathy, Bowers

We've had lots of coverage in the press and on t.v. Utterly frightening.  In fact if it hadn't been for the royal wedding, tornado devastation would still be up there.  Sorry to hear of your problems, narfstar and Linda and I both hope you get through this. Can't imagine what it must be like.  Puts my little problems into perspective.

Narf-glad you made it through the tornadoes relatively unscathed.  The Lil Missus has quite a number of relatives in both Tennessee and Alabama and we just finally got word yesterday they they all managed to avoid the worst of it, although a few , like you, had close calls.

Anyway hope you can get everything back on track as soon as you are able.

From the television coverage, the tornado devastation was some of the worst I have seen.  Glad to hear that you made it through, Narfstar.    My well wishes go out to you and your family - and to all the other victims.

Still no phone or internet at home. Finally got to watch the local special on the tornado. It was worse than I thought hitting more places. When my insurance comes through we may replace our sheds with a storage storm shelter. Hopefully FEMA will pay for my chainsaws and generator it would help a lot. I still know that my family was merely inconvenienced and are very fortunate. I can now say I have seen a tornado. Never saw the funnel because I was too close and just saw the blackness and wind.

Finally while we were out eating after church our phone and internet were restored   

When I walk not far away through the neighborhood I feel so blessed. The devastation in some areas has some houses completely leveled. FEMA has given the county money for clean-up. Just getting all the debris and limbs gone will be a big improvement. Most people have kept up a positive attitude. People helping people was amazing. It has settled down on a large scale as a wait on insurance and FEMA to take over now that the crisis is over. I am proud of our community. Probably over 75% of my students were involved in some sort of tornado clean-up.
