Tip Top Comics 137 St John 1947

This was a kind of pain scan, the cover was in decent shape with very nice cover stock and nice colors.  The comic inside was printed on cheap paper, and was worm eaten and foxed and very brown.  I ended up having to clone part of every page, almost every page had some damage to the image area.  This book is all reprints  of King Features newspaper strips, and I tried to keep the look of the book to that of an old Sunday section.

2x-
Sometimes prepping a scan before delivery can be consuming for sure. Worms, rat chews, rips, foxing, browning, worn spines, frayed edges,

sunbleached, rained on, camped with, brittle till it's falling apart on the scanner, creased, dogeared, mis-stapled, askewed borders, and who knows what else one discovers after opening.

Luckily my stash has pretty much been in hibernation for a number of years so I can almost get the thrill of a new discovery when investigating what all is in there.

Any chance of a before and after shot of one of your worse pages as I like to compare and see if there is something more I might be doing to better my presentations.

Recently posted a JackArmstrongNo.11 that had a 3to4 inch tear thru the whole book that took some doing to gloss over. Just looked at my cover shot I'd sent to the FTP and see where I'd grabbed the wrong file and posted a somewhat muddied one. Not important enough to repost over but much attention to detail is needed to get a scan up and running.

Thanks for your TipTop.
btw- I noticed the Lil' Abner story had a duplicate page if you wanted to correct before MonkeyMan gets ahold of it. ;D

Cheers

Thanks 2x4, looks great!
I'll hold off adding it to the site until I hear if you are going to correct that duplicate page.

btw, this is a United Features book, not one of the later St. John books.

Hmm, perhaps Aussie might want to look at it first to be sure there isn't anything copyrighted in the book.

Sorry but l have no idea at the moment how to find the original copyright renewals for newspaper strips, the online records do not go back that far. l am pretty sure they would contain non pd strips so no they would not be public domain, so no Tip Top Comics from any publisher will be allowed for the time being. If someone can provide a list of the strips in the series it would be helpful.
