Golden Age Hero on strange Motorcyle
« on: September 14, 2015, 03:35:45 AM »

I remember reading a comic book in the 1950's that had a comic character riding a strange, at least to a young boy like myself, motorcycle. The motorcycle had what I would call a running board all the way around it which including the front and back wheels. I assume it was drawn this way since it was easier to draw since you saw very little of the front and back wheels plus the details of the motor  were covered by the body.  It appear to me at that time that you could not turn the front wheels on this bike which in the mind of a preteen would make it very hard to steer.

I keep thinking it was a western hero in a metropolitan setting  and from my current research maybe it was Greg Sanders, Vigilante?

If anyone can help or supply a picture of this strange motorcycle, I would be grateful.

Thanks

I'm pretty sure it was The Vigilante. I remember that motorcycle too, though I can't find a picture of it online. I do know Vig went through several bikes, and different artists drew them differently.

I can't find that Vigilante bike either but I remember seeing it.  Annoying.
If you are interested, there is an earlier hero who rode a motorbike.  The Phantom Meteor (Bolide Fant
