From Fox, coming eventually:
« on: November 26, 2009, 11:18:28 PM »

I just grabbed a few Fox giants cheap; while it will take me a while to get to scanning them here's a few books you can look forward to in all their coverless glory once I'm caught up on JVJ's books:

Almanac of Crime 1948
"new"? content (16 page signature, continues from IFC before rebound issues.)
   Jo-Jo #20
   Western Thrillers #2
   Phantom Lady #19
   Famous Crimes #3 (SOTI mention)

Almanac of Crime 1950
   Famous Crimes #16
   My Desire Intimate confessions #4
   Jungle Lil #1
   My Secret Story #29

Variety Comics 1950
   Crimes by Women #12
   My Love Memoirs #12
Jungle Lil #1 (Guess it really didn't sell well...)
A Feature Presentation 5 (Black Tarantula)

Other than the PL 19 that Yoc is still bravely trying to correct the registration on I don't think we have any of those books.  Not a bad haul for an average of less that $12 per individual issue, is it?

Holy Crap!
Wow, what a great haul Eric.  I'm amazed you didn't have more books that were already on the site!

And at reasonable prices too from the sound of it.  Excellent work, looking forward to someday seeing them.
If you need help with covers, edits, whatever just say the word.

OtherEric, I hope you don't mind if I steal this information for the GCD.  We currently have recorded for these Fox giants different combinations of remaindered comics.

Feel free, but make sure to note that all I have is yet another combination of remaindered books in my copies; other than the first few pages of the Almanac 1948 all I do is add to the list of possible known contents.

Here's what I could figure out on that first signature of the Almanac of Crime 1948:

Cover
1st story: Cattle Kate.  9 pages including IFC.  Reprinted from Women Outlaws #1; although the GCD shows the story as 10 pages in that book.  I think this is the story used in "Seduction of the Innocent"; I know I've seen one panel from it reprinted before.
2nd Story: Kiss of Death Kate.  7 pages.  Reprinted from Western True Crime #15 (#1)
3rd Story: Gang Leaders: Frankie Yale.  1 Page.  Not listed on GCD so I don't know where it first showed up, if anywhere.

I did double check the dates; the two stories appeared in books with cover dates earlier than some of the remaindered issues in the book so they're definitely reprints.  With two SOTI mentions I do wonder if Wertham saw this rather than the original books, though.

Frankie Yale is from that same Women Outlaws #1 as the Cattle Kate story.

Cool.  I was looking under the "Gang Leaders" name and it didn't show up as that on GCD.  Every little bit of info is a good thing.  Let me know if there's anything else I can try and figure out about the book for you!
