I understand that Harry Harrison was working for Fox around this time, and it might have been him who drew The Ivy Invasion story. His use of noticeably big eyebrows for the men, eyes drawn with irises having bug-eyed stares, earlobes usually drawn in a way which resemble an “S,” and if nothing else, the way sound effect words are drawn may very well point to Harrison. For example, Harrison’s signed Horror Heads story in Beware #11 (August, 1952) at one point features a gun firing with a red colored “BLAM!” sound effect, which is very similar to the “BLAM!” gunfire on page four of The Ivy Invasion story. I think Wally Wood and Joe Orlando, whom also worked for Fox, had similar styles, though I don’t think people would be as inclined to say that this is Wally Wood or Joe Orlando art.
