New Guy

Hello everyone. My name is David. I've been a cartoon admirer for many years and have drawn them now and then. My preferred medium is pencil for sketching on paper then inking, usually with a Sharpie. I am a graphic design teacher so have a good understanding of creating and reproducing printed things. I had a comic book collection that spanned from 1968-1985 but by 2020, I felt it was time for others to enjoy them so sold them to Anthonys Comicbook Art in Moonachie, NJ. I think about them from time to time but am glad to know others will experience what I enjoyed.

When I was actively collecting, I focused on Jack Kirby titles, particularly the oddball ones such as monster or short run titles like OMAC or KAMANDI. I loved the silver aged sci-fi comics such as Adam Strange or almost any science fiction titles. My favorite superheros were Green Lantern and Flash. I loved Mad magazine, especially Don Martin and Mort Drucker.

My main interest at the moment is 3D comics. I found out about Comic Book + from the "3D Comic Books" Facebook list . There's so much to look at and discover here that I immediately decided to be an annual supporter. I'm happy to be here and will explore the site as time permits.

Toonman,
Welcome! Welcome! Welcome!
Please join our merry band and please join in the discussions.
You and I have had similar experiences. Huge Kirby Fan.
Look Here;-
https://comicbookplus.com/search/?q=Jack%20Kirby%20#gsc.tab=0&gsc.q=Jack%20Kirby%20&gsc.page=1
The search bar, [top right on the home page] does not pick up all the KIrby on the site.
Actuality that discussion that comes up at the top of the search was before my time and I was not aware of it.
Now I know it's there I may contribute a few comments down the track!
I strongly recommend looking at Harvey's Alarming Tales book. If you are familiar with Jack's work, the concepts he uses there for the first time will blow your mind!
I also had a collection which I sold in about 85, which went back to the early 60's.
Again, welcome and please join in.
