Police Comics: A note from HP
« on: August 20, 2008, 03:43:33 PM »

Henry Peters couldn't log on here and asked me to forward this note about Police Comics:

Everything from 1 to 102 (last before change to crime format) is done in some form (from paper or fiche) except for 4 story pages from #102 .  The missing pages there are from Jeb Rivers, so the Plastic Man stories are all complete.  (As well as Candy, Human Bomb, Manhunter, etc.).

As far as I can tell, the following issues remain to be located in paper:
1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 13, 18, 19, 20, 22, 23, 30, 32 (need paper centerfold), 33 (replace two torn pages), 34, 35 (Phabox has this one?), 102 (need story four pages).  I am a willing buyer of fair to VG copies of any of the missing issues (with the possible exception of #1).

I'd like to thank everyone involved in this project for helping get us this close:  marbleriver; phabox; loftypilot; oldwayne; rolster; teachbug; ont
[sorry the rest of the list got clipped]

addendum:  Not all of the paper issues have been scanned yet.   2 3 8 10 27 32(inc) 102(inc) will be scanned soon from paper

Quite right Jon, I DO have Police Comics_035 in paper and have even got as far as scanning the Plastic Man story as part of my Jack Cole tribute to mark the 50th Anniversary of his death.

Just now I have a copy of Jungle Comics and the eagarly awaited Yellowjacket Comics_010 at the head of the queue but I WILL get around to finishing it before the end of 2008 -HONEST !!!  :-*

An EXTRA-Special THANKS to everyone who scanned those really early issues of Police Comics without which The Phantom Lady Archive co- collected by Yoc and myself would never have been possible.

Speaking of which I see that paper scans of another four of these stories are on the horizen, maybe one day we will be able to put out a revised ALL PAPER Second edition of this volume, and who knows we may even solve the 'Mystery' of Feature Comics_069 !

While i'm here I should also mention that the hunt is STILL on for more original colour scans of the as yet unaccounted for Fox Features Phantom Lady stories.

if your not sure whats needed please check the back page of Volume One for our 'Wanted' list or of course please feel free to contact Yoc or myself if you have any leads.

Agreed, thanks to everybody!  This is an impressive achievement, I'm happy to have been one of the minor contributors.

Just a note to tell you the great Henry Peters has been able to join the site using a longer name.
All is well in that area.
