Trouble with hard-to-leave ads
« on: December 13, 2016, 03:10:24 PM »

First off I realize this may not be something that's under your control. That said, recently I've been having trouble with some of the ads on this site (I browse using the Safari app on an iPhone). I'll navigate to a page, and I'll be redirected to a page like this (spammy ad, before you click). If that were all, it would be annoying but manageable. But the thing is, if I hit the Back button to go back to the page again, the site tries to redirect me to the ad again, and I have to be quick on the draw to stop it. I try and navigate to another page, and I get redirected again. I have no problem with the majority of ads, but these are interfering with the usability of the site. Is there anything the admins could do to try and fix this? Or are ads run by some third party who I could contact?

Thanks in advance for any help.

How long has this been going on?? And are you still having the problem? Our ad agencies are pretty vigilant (nowadays) so normally spammy ads are sent packing after a few hours. O BTW I agree I HATE that sort of thing!

There are redirect viruses that get into the users computer and are activated when that user visits the sites that they most often visit.
I had one on my older PC for awhile but found a tutorial on how to find and delete it manually.

Since its not always active most anti virus programs can't recognize it.
