Hello!
« on: November 29, 2019, 07:32:42 PM »

I've just joined and have already got stuck in to the horror collection. I'm also looking forward to reading the leading ladies collection as I'm interested in the development of women characters in comic book history, and in women creators. I'm learning to colour comics and as I understand it a lot of women working in the early days of the comics industry were colourists too. Mostly though I just enjoy reading golden age books ☺️ This is an incredible resource - thank you!

Hi Sajarina and a warm welcome to CB+.
Apart from G.A. books, you might be interested in how British comics for girls portrayed their fictional lives.
School Friend; Girls' Crystal; Schoolgirls' Picture Library are good examples and you will find them here:-

Be warned, they don't portray real life :o

Hi Sajarina and welcome,

If you are not already aware of Tarpe Mill's Miss Fury,
You will find it here.
https://comicbookplus.com/?cid=3266

I think that there may be Miss Fury material elsewhere on CB+.
Here is an article by Trina Robbins
https://www.printmag.com/interviews/trina-robbins/
and a link to some Miss Fury collections.

Please join us and contribute your thoughts to the Reading group too.

But that is just a start, you will find a surprising number of female Golden age creators [Artists, Writers and Editors - colorists didn't get credited much back then.] on this site, often when you are not expecting them.
Cheers!

Hi Sajarina - just adding my welcome too - I have an interest in mid-century girls comics too (and female creators) - they form a fascinating little microcosm of their own. Over time, I would be interested in hearing your comments on those you read - welcome!
