I noticed one of the early Phantom Lady comics with what should have been a serious wardrobe malfunction by the artist had been covered up by the colorist.
Her outfits often skated on the edge of decency even by today's standards. Futura's top in the early stories was also an accident waiting to happen.

The Puppeteer - has a flag, 'CaptainAmerica-ish "  costume. But. He calls himself the Puppeteer, and he is a puppeteer in his secret identity. Umm, What!?
This is 'throw it against the wall and see if any of it sticks' stuff. But I find it  quite entertaining.

Alan Dale transforms himself into the Puppeteer by playing the first notes of Beethoven's fifth on the giant organ. Last appearance in All Top Comics #1 (one-shot) as Captain V. Does anybody know where the origin of 'The Puppeteeer' was? I think he later became VMan (for Victory).

So today is the first day off I've had since lockdown ended in my country. Based on this post I found "The Puppeteer" and had a read. It's everything I like about Golden Age comics: somehow innocent yet politically incorrect, cheesy yet entertaining and a few moments of escapism. I enjoyed it and I'll probably read more of this character. Thanks for the heads up.

PS I'm now moving on to a quick read "Western True Crime" that I found in the same section. I assume they are playing fast and loose with the word "true" but I do like western comics and films.

Has anyone dissected these giant comics to see if the stories are reprinted from regular Fox titles? If they're new material then Victor Fox must have figured the giants would sell. Fox was first and foremost a chiseler and a cheapskate. He never would have allowed so many stories to pile up in inventory without publishing them. But then, Fox was notorious for not paying his freelancers. Maybe these are all the stories he got for free!
