Zatanna

Although silver age, Zatanna has always struck me as more of a golden age character - with obvious vibes of Mandrake.

I didn't see her in Smallville (haven't watched any of that yet - not enough time in life) so I'm looking forward to the proposed Zatanna movie - although it's currently trapped in development hell, I believe.

The big question is who should play Zatanna? Any suggestions?

Well she was the daughter of Giovanni "John" Zatara

who was one of many Golden-Age mandrake clones. So you are correct.

above  is a page of Zatanna images. If they do a movie, you can bet, in today's climate she won't be in one of  the lingerie costumes.

They would costume her in something like this.

Enjoy!

As a long time Zatanna fan, a movie might interest me, but, I have  DC cartoon dvd with a Batman Zatanna team up and she has no powers.  So it seems DC have different versions and which would they use for a movie or feature length cartoon?

Since that reply, my pal Vince sent me links to a few Zatanna films on you tube.  Some of you might fancy a look - I enjoyed them:-

Danke Paw. Little critique
clip 1 > The Wand makes sense visually. Movie makers often have to make visual sense of things that make sense in comics but not on the screen.
It's not clear what she is saying, because of course it is backwards. Maybe subtitles would help. Don't attempt to portray a character like Constantine unless you can get the accent right.
Clip 2> obviously animators love Zatanna
Clip 3 > Very professional voice.

Then there are these - a somewhat different Zatanna
Smallville 8x17 - Hex - Lois (Chloe) and Clark confront Zatanna

Smallville 9.13 "Warrior" - Zatanna & Clark

Bitte Panther. And of course you're right about Constantine. For a fan film, this one isn't bad.  Sub titles would make a lot of sense. I've also watched the Jesse Quick fan film. Off to dig up more.
Thanks for the Smallville links.  I have not seen the show.  I need to catch up.
