2 Points.
It amuses me that if you were to talk to most 'Movie Buffs' today about a star named John Payne, they would tell you that no, you spelled it wrong.

More interesting. The text piece on the inside cover says that Susan Morrow was tested and accepted for a part in 'Gasoline Alley' That was a popular comic strip at the time. So..... was Gasoline Alley the first comic book movie? This was in 1951 and must have been popular, because there were two made in the same year.
She played Cat-woman Lambda in the science fiction film "Cat-Women of the Moon" (1953)

Susan Morrow is also interesting because she was the sister of Judith Exner.

She had a brief career, only 10 years.

And for your viewing pleasure, here is the Green Glove! Not bad.

I won't claim it was the first comic-based movie, but Palooka, loosely based on Fisher's Joe Palooka strip, was released in 1934. I can't think of an earlier one offhand. Did anyone make a silent film from a comic strip?

There were some live action shorts released in 1898 that were based on Alley Sloper and The Katzenjammer Kids. Not sure which was released first.

The first full-length live action film appears to be Ella Cinders in 1926.
