Yes, I agree the ending seemed a bit abrupt. In the following weeks lead-in panel it starts off "Betty-Lou, through the aid of Tommy and Skeeter succeeded in getting Jerry to Chicago in time to testify against the bank robbers, who were convicted!"
That is all. The next sentence begins "Our scene now shifts high above the state of Oregon...." which is the prologue to the next story.
By the way that story looks very interesting. Has a great intro page with pictures of all the passengers (10) on a plane and a caption underneath including their names and occupations. It has the feel of an intro from an old time movie or serial.
