Waldman absolutely changed the title of his series from the original for legal reasons. Almost invariably, his "reprints" included less comics pages than the originals, as his issues almost always contained more advertisements than the originals, and often contained less pages, as his were always 36 pages long, while many of the Golden Age comics plates he obtained in going-out-of-business warehouse liquidations came from 52-page books. Often, the titles of his series would not even be remotely similar to the original because he chose a minor character for the cover, as opposed to the lead character of the series. He also gave Trademarked characters new names for the front covers, despite the stories on the inside featuring a currently trademarked character. He could get away with doing that because his comic books were NOT on the regular newsstand and grocery store or 5 and drug store shelves, where copyright and trademark holders, their lawyers, and their family members might see them, but were, instead, sold in bulk in sealed cellophane packages, in five and dime stores, and toy stores, with the outer covers that were seen through the plastic being innocent-looking. Any questionable covers that might lead to his being caught for copyright or trademark infringement were hidden from sight in the middle.
