That's an incompetent and relatively new Mod not paying attention when they approve the files.   :-[ I'll check the situation and adjust credit as needed.

Ok Freddy, my apologies.  That was my doing.
I'll change the Author to your name but if you notice I made sure you were listed as the provider of the paper scans.
Seeing as your original upload had the pages out of order (using CDisplay and on my XP Home edition.) and DM was nice enough to restore 'the junk' that many here like to read I approved the upload but I should have given you credit for the book.
I incorrectly thought I would avoid some readers complaining about the page order being wrong by removing your version seeing as it was included in the now C2C version.  Seeing your anger I'm thinking perhaps that was a mistake.  Again, my apologies.
We've enjoyed your uploads and I hope this matter doesn't discourage any future shares you might be considering.  This is a place where you'll find a very grateful audience for these mostly forgotten books.

While I have your ear, I hope we can convince you to use 00,01,02, etc for file names.  It would definitely eliminate any potential problems no mater what file system or application were being used to read the scans.  Once a file is on the site we can't correct them ourselves even if we wanted to do it.

Again, my thanks for the scans they've been great and I apologize for the misunderstanding.

Take care,
-Yoc

Sir,

I trust that you will be mindful that it is rude to badmouth your fellow mods. Having a bit of power does not entitle you to launch thunderbolts at anyone undeserving.

+1 karma Yoc for addressing this in a professional manner that does not alienate supporters of GA-UK.

I had identified a different file as the incorrect one; which I thought I had approved along with several others.  (I'm pretty sure I approved the Big 3 #1 earlier today.)  I didn't mean to put down Yoc or any of the other mods, I was trying to blame MYSELF and nobody else.  You're not the only one who has taken me to task for this, I apologize to my fellow mods for my unclear phrasing.

Understood OtherEric, your contributions to GA-UK are beyond repute. Trust me, I would jump into the fray in your defense if you were maligned for your efforts.

Thank-you Boox but please let's not let this get any worse than it already is.
I didn't take offence to what Eric said and I hope that Freddy will understand and forgive the mistake.  I regret his feeling so angry on the issue and I'd certainly would hate to lose him as a member and a scanner.

Let's leave the next reply to Freddy if he wants to make one Ok?

Thanks,

Nobody stole your scans freddyfly, you were still given scanning credit for the paper scans. Author is the uploader we keep which ever version is the most complete and which actually has the pages in the right order. If we have to make do with fiche fills then that is what will be done, the scans will be combined till someone can provide paper scans to replace the fiche pages, our aim is to have c2c scans. If someone else has to re-upload the scan with the page order corrected then yes they will often get the credit for uploading it. It might be an idea to actually check that the scan will read in the right order before uploading it, numbering the pages according to what they actually were in the comic would also be helpful when the missing "junk" pages are added to the scan.

We appreciate all the hard work of the scanners and those who upload the scans, if you do not want to scan the entire comic that is fine, but we will attempt to get the missing pages to add to the scan.

It should be noted that, ironically, many of the scans uploaded by freddyfly were scanned by a friend of mine, not freddyfly.  That friend resells the comics he buys and is none too thrilled that some of his scans, which he traded with one other person, have made it up here before his eBay auctions are even over.  Case in point--Fantastic Comics #15.  My own scan of Fantastic Comics #10 made it up here via freddyfly before I could post it myself.  For me, it's not a big deal except when someone takes credit for someone else's work.  If you don't know the scanner, consider putting "not my scan" in the description box.

You did not scan this comic at all (Big Three #1).  It was scanned by bhcomics.  With his permission, I have restored the paper ads and text that were stripped.  I have kept 3 of darkmark's fiche covers so that it is still ctc, and re-uploaded.

Guys, Freddyfly and I have already straightened things out.  I don't want us to lose him, so let's turn down the volume here, okay?  Okay.

Is there any way we can convince Freddyfly to post complete books? I know he has some feelings about "junk pages" but I would prefer to have _COMPLETE_ books over hacked-up books that require someone else to fill in the gaps.

To repost something I said in the "ad page copies" thread:

I totally believe in full C2C scans of books. Ads can be removed by someone later. But only the person with the original paper copy can create a complete digital record of that book (including ifc, ibc, text stories, etc.).

...[A]dvertisements were usually printed with blocks of books from a particular month. This fact can often be used to determine roughly when a book was published when the indicia offers no definitive information.

...[B]ooks that have been archived here without advertisements are basically worthless for this type of task.

Preserving the artwork is well and fine, but a more noble task is to archive the entire book for future readers and scholars. We are the monks of the digital age, toiling away with scanners and image editors instead of quill and paper. If we don't produce a complete record of a book C2C who will?

Yes I was convinced to join the c2c club. But I still think something is better than nothing if someone is unwilling to scan ads that is their business after all this costs them money and time. I also have a lot of coverless books. I have some coverless Standard funny animals books that I have no idea about their issue numbers and not sure about the title. Should I post them as unk in the Standard or create a separate category called The Unknown Zone for a variety of books I have that do knot know. I like the sound of the later 8)

Send me scans of the first page of the first stories, narf, and I'll tell you what title/issues they are. I have near complete runs of all of Standard FA titles.

I think this thread has served it's purpose and can be closed.
Narf, perhaps you might start a new thread for people to help with identification problems.
