I'm new here and wanted to say Hi!
« on: April 04, 2009, 02:12:33 AM »

I found this site from an internet search on google and thought I'd give it a try. I'm hoping to learn something as I've only just begun to collect golden age comics. Wonder Woman and Sensation are my main interest.

I'm sure I have no idea what I'm doing nor do I know what a comic is worth. I've been going by the cover. If I like it I buy it if the price is right. I am interested in one day getting a full run on Wonder Woman and Sensation comics that have wonder woman in them.

Great to be here. :)

Well welcome to a place you will not find any Wonder Woman but lots of other wonderful women. Wonder Woman, Sensation and most other DC and Marvel comics are not public domain so not avialbable here. Do not let that discourage you as there is plenty of great stuff for you to try. I like your buy what you like if the price is right attitude. That is the true worth regardless of what Overstreet might say.

thanks for the info.  Slave Girl is a Great comic.

I was looking at the Catman comics too.  Now DC owns those rights? Or is it a different character than the DC one?

Hi Jem,
No, DC doesn't own Catman.  He was published by Hillman.
Here is a link to all of his books that we have.

If you check in the top right of that page above our logo you'll see the
'SEARCH' button.  Any title you might be looking for can be searched using it.

Enjoy the Catmans,

I think that's Holyoke, Yoc, not Hillman.
FYI, Paris is overcast and I've had a cold for the last week. Some fun, eh?

Peace, Jim (|:{>

DC's Catman was a minor, forgettable Batman villain until writers my age saw him in the original Who's Who directory.  He's now been "revitalized" (by which I mean "arbitrarily turned into an alpha male") by Gail Simone in the newest Secret Six stuff.

There's no connection to the Holyoke character here, except that the Batman staff clearly adapted the original's costume.

I'm not sure who owns Catman rights-wise, but at least 2 publishers have used him under "eminent domain"...AC Comics and (I think) Dynamite, in PROJECT:  SUPERPOWERS.  Also, DC's Cat-Man spells his name thusly, as does the original, I believe.

The copyrights on his books have expired (no renewals).  There are no rights left for anybody to own, except on the new story content (or character, in DC's case).

I think we're both right on the hyphenation, by the way.  The spelling seems to vary with the taste of the writer.  Sometimes, I think the Holyoke character is even Cat Man.
