http://contentdm.unl.edu/cdm4/browse.php?CISOROOT=/comics&CISOSTART=1,1

Anyone have insight to these types of publications?

Is there other countries that have done something simular?

Sincerely,

George Peter Gatsis

They come in pdf but could be converted and put here if pre-1960. If I am not mistake no government publication can be copyright.

You know what one they DON'T have, narf,
and that I just discovered on a VERY old backup is Kirby's 1937 Romance of Money. Here' a page:

They're nice 600 ppi scans of the whole issue. Someday I'll HAVE to post them.

Peace, Jim (|:{>

Or download pdf2image and convert them during the 30 trial. This is what I am doing. I think I got all the pre 1960 ones so I should get to post them all.
YES Jim we look forward to the Kirby scans. BTW did you get to check if the art was Roussos?

I looked at it, Narf and it reminds me more of Al Bare than on Roussos - who always seemed to draw rounder/fuller faces than this artist does. IMHO.

Actually, it's government authorship.  In other words, if it was produced (or purchased outright) by a (United States Federal) government office, then it's in the public domain.  Essentially, government ownership is public ownership.

If they only requested or sponsored it, though, then copyrights work as usual.  I haven't looked at the link, yet, so I can't guess at this particular situation.

I finally download all of them... 8 GIGs!!! all together.

Some of the books I have a sense of dou-a-viewed... or having seen them before...

Some are just downright funny given the knowledge that it was up to that point back then... duck and cover knowledge...

I got the pre 1960 and am in the process of turning them to jpg. Some of the books do carry copyright but most were government. Duck and Cover is a must read. It will be one of the first I add.
