Site drawback
« on: December 15, 2006, 11:33:19 PM »

This is really a drawback of your site!
Today I had to cancel 4 downloads after more than 1 hour.
Hence, again, reached the maximum bandwidth 150 MB without downloading  anything.
Is this a site bad-function?
Is there not a way for the system to know when a user  has  canceled a download?

You cancel the download it will automatically assume you downloaded the whole comic, l am no technical wizard like Serj, but why did you cancel 4 downloads? Perhaps you should be looking to solve your connection problems if you are having so much trouble downloading

What kind hardware are you running?

Are you on dial up? That might be
inviting all of the problems you appear
to be encountering on the site.

Seriously, I run DSL and use firefox and
I have no problem using the site at all.

If the reasonable download limit is that much
of a pain to you, and you are on dial up or
using hardware that does not gel well with
the site, then perhaps you could donate
to the server fund and not have to worry
anymore.

Serj and crew have put together a great thing
together with the site, and no one else appears
to be suffering the same issues as you.

I run ADSL and use netscape7.2.
The problem may be related to the download of several large files simultaneously.

Well just download one file at a time.

For my example if you download 1 file of 80MB you will get maybe a speed of 2MB/sec (depending on your connection).

If you decide then you download 5 files of big size all at same time doesn't mean you will get 2mb/sec for each file, most likely you will get a even smaller speed. Its the same with alot of other file sharing sites, if you download many files at same time either they will stop you or slow them down to stop one user from using up all the connection of the server.

If you download one file at a time then you won't notice any problems and I believe this is how everyone else does it and they not complained.

Also if you cancel the download then there is no real way for the site to tell how much you have downloaded or if you killed it so once you have hit the "download" link you are committed to that download.
