I recently read one of the Black Hood (Hooded Detective) pulp novels – it’s in the public domain: https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/38466

I enjoyed it so I thought I’d have a go at the comic, especially as it’s a sujet de jour. I like it – it was good to see Babs Sutton as a strong character and I enjoyed the art from Irv Novick. Not too sure about the Hood’s vow in The Sinister Spiritualist – pretty sure that death would stop him from eradicating crime worldwide.

[The Australian Panther]

Irv Novick went on to DC and is best known for doing Batman there in the 60's - 70's. Unfotunately he was just before Neal Adams came on board and Neal very much eclipsed him. A very underrated artist. Another one whose Golden Age work I probably like better than his later work.
