I need HELP with Master Comics 088...
« on: December 05, 2009, 05:46:32 PM »

...because a message says: "Couldn't display "MASTER~1.CBR" because a suitable graphics importer could not be found":'(

I was able to see All Top Comics 015 fine.

So what can I do to see Master Comics 088?

...and All Top Comics 016 since the same message "ALL_TO~1.CBR" because a suitable graphics importer could not be found" shows up as well. :'(

I initially had a whole, "no clue" message, since you didn't really give us much to go on in terms of the software you're using to view the comics.

Then I just searched for the error message and found this:

http://www.technologyquestions.com/technology/windows-xp/218670-cant-open-jpgs.html

Does that sound like your situation?

PictureViewer.

Also, the software Paint says: "Paint cannot read this file. This is not a valid bitmap file, or its format is not currently supported".

QuickTime says: "Error -2048: Couln't open the file Master_Comics 088.cbr because it is not a file that QuickTime understands".

Although I was able to see Rangers Comics 049 just now.

It's like it's working OR it's not working but I don't know why yet. I'd like VERY MUCH to see the 2 comics mentioned in my first post, thought.

Yeah, that sounds about right.  QuickTime decided it wanted to be king of the pictures, but doesn't know what to do with them.

Reading the thread I posted before, I found this, which may solve the problem.

http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm

Download the item for "JPE/JPG/JPEG" (a little more than midway down) and follow the simple instructions up top (that is, download, extract, and double-click).  From what little I understand, here, that should take QuickTime out of the process and give Windows a chance to do its thing.

It didn't solve the problem.

Because now when I open the stubborn files I get this message: "Some of the file types associated with QuickTime applications are currently associated with other applications. Should I restore these file type associations to QuickTime? YES NO".

When I click YES or NO then the same message as mentioned in my first post shows up again. :'(

I got the latest updates for my computer.

Also, I just found out that .cbz files give me this message: "Windows cannot open this file: Master Comics 040. To open this file, Windows needs to know what program created it. Windows can go online to look it up automatically, or you can manually select from a list of programs on your computer. What do you want to so? * Use the Web service to find the appropriate program * Select the program from a list".

When I choose the first option, I get this:
"File Type: Unknown
Description: Windows does not recognize this file type."

When I choose the second option, I get this:
"The file you are downloading cannot be opened by the default program (recommended Internet Explorer). It is either corrupted or it has an incorrect file type. As a security precaution, it is recommended that you cancel the download."
