Does anyone know the identity of the artist who drew "The Three Little Kittens"?
Link to the book: Tiny Tots Comics 1
As far as I know, Walt Kelly drew the entire book. I've read that in a few different sources. "The Three Little Pigs" and "The Three Little Mice" look even more like his work than "The Three Little Kittens", but the latter looks like he could have drawn it, as well. Kelly was hired by Western Publishing, with the understanding that he would draw mainly fairy tales for them. At that time he was working on all the Mother Goose releases, and all the "Santa Claus Funnies", and was a big contributor to "Fairy Tale Parade". The fancy, wood-carving style trimmed borders of each page of "The Three Little Kittens" was a similar style to what he was drawing on the covers of "Fairy Tale Parade".
He is listed as the artist for the entire "Tiny Tots" book in Grand Comic Database. But, now that I've looked more closely at Kelly's and Arthur E. Jameson's work on the Mother Goose Titles, I see that "The Three Little Kittens" looks more like Jameson's style. I think the two artist split the stories in "Tiny Tots".
