This is a weird comic: about half the material is newspaper strips and some of the art is quite good (Roy Crane, J.R. Williams, Hix, Vallely, etc.). Then it looks like the publisher had another "artist" do the other half of the book (mostly Western stories) in a very crude style. (The covers are also pretty bad).

I'm glad I'm not the only one who had the same impression. The quality of the strip reprints, especially Wash Tubbs, calls attention to how bad the original material is. Vallely is a cut above, but the others are downright amateurish.
